Weather Observations

Earth’s movements-day / night cycle / orbit investigation.  “What are consequences of Earth’s rotation stopping,  and what about shadows?”  How is weather effected by Earth’s tilt and these movements?  Hands – on lab experiment / demonstration showing this movement.     Resources:  Brainpop, lamps,  Earth models,  dark classrooms,  Think Up Science (M Minds) ‘19 / ‘20 pages 113 – 120.

Wednesday

Wrap up Earth’s movements investigation.  

Grade #8: Unit 14-Earth Movements

Complete any unfinished sketchings or unfinished lab observations.

Thursday

Hands – on Moon Earth comparison investigation lab:  To Crater or Not to Crater.  Using Earth and Moon Models,  students answer the question of why Moon has many more craters than Earth.   Possibly done as teacher demonstration whole – group – as per protocol.    Resources:  Earth / Moon models,  lab sheets  

Friday

Weather observations – again discuss if such observations are possible on the Moon.  Why or why not?

Wrap – up and discuss To Crater or Not to Crater.

Discuss Moon Phases.  Brainpop video.   Review / discuss Earth’s mo-24 hr day/night cycle,  rotation.  Discuss Revolution / Orbit – RAD and ROY
