5th Grade Science Agenda – Ecosystems and Life Cycles

August 23rd – 27th,  2021  5th Grade Science Agenda:

TEKS:  5.1,  5.2, 5.5A,  5.9

Monday

Life Science study continues.  Weather permitting,  students will observe and interact with our forest ecosystem in the Nature Center (behind school building).  Begin – 

Grade #2: Activity 2 Observing an Ecosystem / Vocabulary Builder.   This serves as guide for observing,  interacting with,  and describing interactions of living and nonliving elements in an ecosystem.  Students complete short answer questions, definitions,  and full color illustrations as they observe.

Tuesday

Continue Ecosystem observations / activities / Grade #2  from Monday.

Wednesday

Continue Ecosystem observations and Grade #2 from Monday / Tuesday.   Wrap up Grade #2 / Nature Center Observations.  Back in the classroom,  introduce Grade #3:  Unit 23:  Ecosystems.  10 questions covering Life Science research thus far.  Students may use lab folder contents (Science glossary,  Grade #2 from Mon/Tues).

Thursday

Continue and complete Grade #3:  Unit 23: Ecosystems from Wednesday.  Students may finish up any incomplete Grade #2 areas.

Friday

Begin Life Cycles discussion.  Students investigate and compare life cycles of various organisms including producers and consumers.  Introduce Bean Plant hands on activity.
