5th Grade Science Agenda: February 7th – 11th, 2022

Some plans carry over from last week due to inclement weather.

Monday

Yo-Yo demonstration 7:45 – 8:15 in Elementary Gym

Investigate Time Zone map – use and relate to the model of Earth’s Rotation and the Day  / Night Cycle.   Introduce Water Cycle:  Does this occur on the Moon?  Why / why not?   Intro:  Water Cycle in a Jar.   Water Cycle chant.

Tuesday

Weather Observations

Hands – on lab experiment:  Water Cycle in a Jar.   Students model the H20 cycle using hotplates,  mason jars,  ice in baggie,  flashlight,  warm H20.

Wednesday

Weather Observations

Complete / finish filling in Water Cycle Cloud In A Jar lab sheets.  Discuss lab and models used, limitations of the model,   water cycle chant,  Brainpop H20 Cycle video.

Thursday

Weather Observations

Grade #6: Unit 22 – Water Cycle.  Hands – on lab sheets,  notes,  sketchings may be used by students to show knowledge of The Water Cycle (10 item daily grade – Google Classroom).

Friday

Weather Observations

Introduce Forces That Change Earth’s Surface project.  This includes observations (on – campus),  models of Earth’s surface in the Science lab,  brainpop videos,  and discussions of forces that change Earth’s surface such as water, wind,  ice, human activity.

Resources:  Observation sheets for outdoor activities,  lab sheets for models,  brainpop videos,  red/green Harcourt Science Books pages C4 – C11.
